Emmilou Harlan Art Exhibit: Dec 11, 7pm-9pm
My work has been inspired by where I come from- a small
community in which my childhood fort was a hog pen on
my grandparents' farm- and what I hold dearest in my
heart above all- my faith. In this current collection
from "Though You Can't See Me," my familiarity
with nature intertwines with hope to explore the goodness
and beauty that surrounds us every day, and the messages
we can take from the world around us. Like birds in
nature, whether we're singing in the sun from the highest
treetops or we're holding on for our lives during the
roughest storm, there is always hope. You and I are
not alone.
I am 26 and I live in a rural area of the Midwest near
the Illinois and Iowa border, the Mississippi River.
Here I live and work as an artist, and I also work as
a nanny. I graduated from Northern Illinois University
with a degree in fine art. My major emphasis was photography,
though I am studied in a variety of mediums and enjoy
practicing a broad range of art.
